“Trained Marxist” and BLM Co-Founder Patrisse Cullors Signs Warner Bros. TV Deal
“the pact will see Cullors develop and produce original programming across all platforms, including broadcast, cable and streaming”
It’s no secret that the Black Lives Matter movement and its co-founder (and self-identified “Marxist”) Patrisse Cullors has long accused American capitalism of being fundamentally, systemically racist and “wiping out entire communities“; these assertions are core tenets of multiple official Black Lives Matter organizations.
But that hasn’t stopped Cullors from signing a big contract with a major purveyor of BLM-reviled corporate consumerism: Warner Bros Television.
BLM’s disdain for American capitalism is well documented.
In a 2015 interview with The Real News and Jared Ball, BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors explained:
We [BLM] actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia in particular are trained organizers. We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories. And I think that what we really tried to do is build a movement that could be utilized by many, many black folk.
Cullors’ co-founder, Alicia Garza, opined in 2015:
In the same way, we are living in political moment where for the first time in a long time we are talking about alternatives to capitalism…whether that’s abolishing a criminal justice system that feeds off the labor and the lives of black and brown people, whether that’s abolishing an economic system that thrives on exploitation, poverty and misery: this is the time for us to not just dream about what could be, but also start to build alternatives that we want to see.
Meanwhile, a 2018 review of Cullors’ memoir in Time magazine reported:
Cullors weaves her intellectual influences into this narrative, from black feminist writers like Audre Lorde and bell hooks, to Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin and Mao Zedong. Reading those social philosophers “provided a new understanding around what our economies could look like,” she says.
In addition, the current website for Black Lives Matter Los Angeles (co-founded by Cullors) lists “choosing Black community over White capitalism” under its “Organize” and “Current Campaigns” page. And, as a July 2020 piece in The Federalist notes,
Anti-capitalist sentiments are stated quite lucidly on the website of [a BLM-affiliated/ umbrella] group called the “Movement for Black Lives.” They proclaim, “We believe and understand that Black people will never achieve liberation under the current global racialized capitalist system.”
There are dozens more examples. Yet, on October 15, Variety reported:
Patrisse Cullors is making a big step into the television business.
The co-founder of Black Lives Matter has signed her first over overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group. Characterized as multi-year and wide-ranging, the pact will see Cullors develop and produce original programming across all platforms, including broadcast, cable and streaming.
Cullors’ agreement encompasses scripted and unscripted series, longform series, animated and kids programming, as well as digital content. Together, WBTVG and Cullors will look to amplify the work of the Black Lives Matter, which Cullors started alongside Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi back in 2013, and create more opportunities for prominent Black storytelling. Precise terms for the deal have not been disclosed.
…“Black voices, especially Black voices who have been historically marginalized, are important and integral to today’s storytelling. Our perspective and amplification is necessary and vital to helping shape a new narrative for our families and communities. I am committed to uplifting these stories in my new creative role with the Warner Bros. family,” Cullors said in a statement. “As a long time community organizer and social justice activist, I believe that my work behind the camera will be an extension of the work I’ve been doing for the last twenty years. I look forward to amplifying the talent and voices of other Black creatives through my work.”
Building on her political activism, the Los Angeles native plans to work with the studio to develop scripted dramas and comedies, docuseries and animated programming for children, young adults and families.
…Warner Bros. said it would collaborate with Cullors in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and to provide more opportunities for Black producers, writers and other talent.
For a “social justice” organization that decries massive, hierarchical corporations, Warner Bros seems an odd choice of partner. WB’s website boasts that:
In 2019, Warner Bros. Pictures Group earned $4.4 billion in worldwide receipts ($1.57 billion domestic, $2.85 billion international), marking the 10th time the Studio crossed the $4 billion mark. To date, Warner Bros. remains the only studio to cross the $1 billion mark both domestically and internationally 19 years in a row—an industry record.
Evidently, as Dinesh D’Souza mused, “Marxism has become BIG BUSINESS in America”.

But some Black activists, commentators, and public figures are less than pleased with Cullors’ news.
Somebody needs to hear this:
Black liberation isn’t brought to you by AT&T, sponsored by Wells Fargo, or managed by Roc Nation.
And it certainly doesn’t come with a Warner Bros. Television deal, or a shoe from Nike.

Yep it has failed to put a dime in the communities/people it claims to care about.

Black Lives Matter has made a name for itself by equating capitalism with racism and police brutality; as a movement, it has long sought to discredit the traditional “up-by-your bootstraps” ideals of the American dream. Instead, BLM ostensibly holds that true racial justice necessitates the rejection of capitalist ideals such as meritocracy, individual responsibility, and individual choice.
Now, BLM’s co-founder’s (likely lucrative) deal to monetize her activism with a massive media corporation has actively discredited these supposedly foundational tenets. Oops.

Patrissellout Cullors.
There, fixed it for ya.
I’m going out on a limb to predict that she will produce unwatchable garbage but still gets to keep the money.
JimWoo — Well, maybe. But I bet the Warner execs are gonna feel real good about themselves.
Warner Brothers has a death wish.
Think they get that wish real soon.

There has been a lot of garbage coming out of media in recent years, I refuse to watch it.
I keep building my DVD library, been picking up whole collections for the past 5 years at about 0.20 per DVD.
Just read last week how almost all of the increase in television viewership has gone to classic movie channels and retro television channels, and not to the big media Networks.
Do you get your dvds at yard sales?
You can also see lots of movies and TV networks free online.
Retro TV, BUZZR, DABL, and Light Tv are just a few.
This site has online links to tv channels all over tho world.

The thing with that, though, is somebody’s collecting data on what you watch.
I’m sick of being a data provider.
I hear ya.
And I am sick of commercials. Marketing, PR people rank about the same as used car sales people.
Just what we need more of the dumbest among us
“Cullors weaves her intellectual influences”
I really do not think that “intellectual” and Cullors name fit well together.
Also, America has been based on capitalism since it’s founding. If they want Marxism, then send their tails to somewhere based on Marxism. If they insist on trying to force Marxism on the rest of us, then they will need to be put down.
Well, we know who to boycott:
Warner Brothers is a subsidiary of AT&T.
Boycot them both.
One more reason why my cutting AT&T Internet and landline was a good move.
I have a simple question with an obvious answer.
Ready? Here it is:
“How many minutes would a racist society put up with someone like Ms. Cullors?”
Her continued existence refutes her complaints, all by itself.
Eh, what’s up, Warner Brothers? *chews carrot*
February 2021 is going to be insufferable.
Not if you cut them off.
Democrats, Neo-KKK, and corporations… 50 shades of fascism to normalize diversity (i.e. color judgments) rackets. Progress.
The triumverate is nearly complete.
Marxism has joined hands with the black grievance community and will be complete when Islam is their chosen religion.
It isn’t going to end well….the entire world will be on fire.
“We believe and understand that Black people will never achieve liberation under the current global racialized capitalist system.”
Oh. Can’t compete, huh?
Almost makes me nostalgic for the days of “Black is Beautiful”—at least that wasn’t a battle-cry of perennial failure.
Affirmative this and that, and with all those crunches, they cannot compete, because they are dumb, lazy POS.
I have no problem accepting those of any race who are hard working productive citizens, but I have had it with grifters, especially the current crop of black grifters.
No surprise. “Socialists” are only socialist with your money, not with theirs.
Not surprising.
Hollywood has been aligned with the Marxists, Leninists for decades now. Senator Joseph McCarthy tried to warn us about this years ago, but was opposed by the media, which had also been co-opted.
Lobbyists have been responsible for Hollywood propaganda for decades. Here’s how it works on the anti-gun front, both historically and most recently.
There’s a phrase on the left that I encountered years ago, mostly in connection with the non-profit sector: “Doing well by doing good.”
Loosely translated it means this story. An “activist” pursuing radical activist, anti-American ends and making a pile of money doing it.
They get to feel good about themselves AND have all the perks besides. It’s kind of ironic. This is also why communism always fails.
This is literally straight out of the film “Network” where television producer Faye Dunaway hires gun-toting black radicals to put on “The Mao Tse-Tung Hour”.
BTW, there was yet another Trump rally in Beverly Hills over the weekend attended by several hundred (thousands?). A lame BLM showed up but there was an effective police presence. This is in CA!
Kevin McCarthy and Corey Lewandowski have assured us that Trump is very active in CA and believe the will regain the 6-7 House seats stolen in 2016 plus several others. The ground game here is to outdo the Dems at their own game, maybe stealing votes via ballot harvesting?
If cheating is now accepted practice, we better be doing it too. It’s long past time the non-Trump country club GOP stooped down to get their hands dirty and fight for the population centers. That takes a ground game.
We need to win the cities if there is any hope for winning the big states. CA and TX are the biggest examples for what happens when we don’t. We better fix that while we can and Trump has only four more years.
What’s Marxism without a nomenklatura? She’s just getting a jump on the competition.
Seriously, though, is there a Marxist anywhere on the planet who isn’t an utter hypocrite?
Whatever happened to Gil “the revolution will not be televised” Scott-Heron? Lost in the mists of time it seems. Like the white privilege lady, Ms. Cullors gets the message of America – develop an idea and sell that idea to big corporation. Go West, young minority!
I guess Warner Brothers hasn’t learned – Get Woke, Go Broke.
well, at least WB hasn’t inked a deal with the biden family(yet)
with cullors et al, should be apparent within a few seconds that any “production” of theirs is sheer bs
with FamBiden might take a bit longer, maybe a minute or so
So now Capitalism is ok??? When it lines their pockets.
My Black Lives Matter post at https://oberlinchaos.com/litigation/hall-of-shame/black-lives-matter-error/ explains the Maoist theory behind the founders of BLM.
It is amazing how the Marxists will preach marxism right up to the point they can make a buck in our “evil” free market society. Maybe Cullors could do a reality show Venezuela for WB and report back to us on all the Marxist splendor, as she gnaws on a ratburger, and whines to come back.
What makes this uneducated degenerate qualified to create entertainment or propaganda programming?
Ethnicity, plumbing, and political philosophy. She’s a threefer hire.
She is so ugly that she has to pursue something other than hooking.
I wouldn’t trust her to get my order right at Burger King.
But at least you could bank on it being well flame broiled.
